Bay Area based artist, Linda Nystrom, combines Chinese and Western paintbrush styles to reproduce the grace and beauty of nature. Originally trained in Chinese brush painting in the 1970s, Linda has attended Chinese and western style watercolor painting workshops throughout U.S. Linda is also an avid photographer where she learned how to observe light and appreciate how it can dramatically transform textures and colors. Her photographic experience has helped her translate the flow and textures within and surrounding her subjects by incorporating different values and hues. Her customers in the U.S. and South America can forever enjoy flowing elegance and delicacy depicted in her paintings.

Her new style combines the classic white background with the graceful curves of flower bouquets. As she prepares for a solo exhibit in January, 2025 at the Sunnyvale Library, she plans to feature a series of flowers in various configurations.

Linda’s paintings, Field of Irises won honorable mention at a juried show in Los Gatos, CA, Spring 2023; Sweet Smells of Summer, won first prize in the juried show in Los Altos, CA, Fall 2021. Her artwork has been shown at exhibitions in the Bay Area including the California Waterclor Association, San Ramon, CA, Winter 2023; Fine Art in the Park, Los Altos, CA, Summer 2023 and Palo Alto Festival of the Arts, Palo Alto, CA, Fall 2023. Other shows include the Los Altos Library, Annual Shows at the Addison-Penzak JCC in Los Gatos, and Silicon Valley Open Studios, 2022 and 2023.
